I started to write this blog post as a recap of the last 3 months, but decided it was much more important to make it a thank you. I am overwhelmingly filled with a feeling of gratitude to the LARGE number of people that it took to make my very first tour possible, and (more importantly) make it incredibly enjoyable. This was no doubt one of the most challenging things I've ever had to do, but also one of the most rewarding. So first and foremost, THANK YOU to everyone that helped make the Look Fabulous Tour possible; the crew, the sponsors, the attendees, the models, MZPE, and more.
Near the end of the tour the long hours had worn on me, but I was able to soak up the AMAZING passion and energy of the workshop attendees. If they were smiling and excited I could deliver my class with the energy and enthusiasm like it was my first time teaching it. If the attendees had less energy... well... lets just say I'm glad it didn't happen. 😀 The tour wasn't easy. FAR from it... but the combination of great attendees and my amazing team made it possible. Let me give you a little recap before jumping into some thank you's!
- 33 Cities, 2 countries
- 70+ days
- 13,000+ RV miles
- 70+ models
- 20+ trips to Panera
- 15+ trips to Dairy Queen
- 700+ masterclass attendees
- 425+ hours of teaching
I can hardly believe its over. My 33 city tour, The Look Fabulous Tour, became more like a lifestyle to me than a tour. Now I actually know what it is to live the 'rockstar life'; long hours, long journeys, late nights, and more (minus the drugs, crazy partying, or screaming crowds of course).
First of all, thank you to everyone who attended. When I teach I am pouring out my heart, my soul, my mind, and all my energy. When you are eager and excited to be there, there couldn't be a better feeling in the world. I love to share, and love being around passionate people. Thank you for wanting to hear what I have to say, and sharing in this major life adventure.
Thank you to all the attendees that went above and beyond with special gifts. People brought chocolate, coffee, stuff animals, t-shirts, camera gear, energy supplements, regional keepsakes, books and more. It is always such an amazing surprise when someone brings something thoughtful. It is a reward enough just to have someone attend my classes, but then when they bring me a gift, it often makes me feel in disbelief at how lucky I am.
Thank you for the dozens (if not hundreds) of emails and Facebook messages for those of you who did attend. I love to hear feedback about what you enjoyed in the class, what we could do better, and the direction you want to take with your photography. Its fascinating that we can all come from such drastically different backgrounds and life experiences, but share a common uniting bond with our passion.
Thank you to all the sponsors that supported the tour. You helped to get the word out, helped provide gear for us to run the class, and funds to help keep prices affordable for attendees. We quite literally would not have been able to do this tour and reach so many passionate photographers without your help.
Thank you to the models that stepped up for me around the country, especially ones that drove long distances to be with me!
Next, thank you to my entire team. Dave, you managed to stay upbeat and uplifting the entire time. I don't know how you stayed so happy even with the long hours, but I'm so incredibly thankful for it. Ben, your smiles were a great way to greet attendees and I feel lucky to have met you. I see a bright future ahead for you. Christina, thank you for being more than 'just a model'. You were attendee greeter, equipment lifter, and RV entertainer. Thank you for having the desire to see us all smile and going above and beyond your job duties! Jeff, somehow you survived being in close quarters with me 24/7 during long hours and tough situations, and still came out on the other side loving me. Thank you for being the tough man when things needed to get done, but still being good to me when things weren't easy. You are a great partner. Becky, thanks for helping us during the roughest part of the tour. You helped make it through the long haul at the end.
Thank you MZPE and Urooj for helping to plan the tour and iron out the wrinkles, especially when we hit bumps along the way. It wasn't always easy, but the final product was wonderful!
Finally, thank you to Lou for being an excellent tour partner. We worked together to compliment each others strengths and I really think we did the best for all the attendees as we possibly could. As a team I truly believe we were able to offer something special. You have certain talents and knowledge that NO ONE else I know has, and I feel honored to be able to be part of your sharing those talents.
Now that the tour is over, I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I weren't so busy again! 😀 This week I am filming with one of my best friends, Brooke Shaden, and the Framed Network. We are producing a new online show that will be a TON of fun. Both Brooke and I will be given a concept at the beginning of the day, and we must find a way to make it into an amazing image! Looking forward to another long and challenging week... but a LOT of fun!
